Facebook addiction – my solution
I don’t know if you feel the same, but many times when I am very busy, I dive deep into thoughts of amazing projects I will be doing when I will get some free time.
Back in the days, after I finished my university, I found myself having a lot of free time and instead of creating those amazing projects I would catch myself being stuck with Facebook.
And I am not talking about chatting with friends, which is always valuable for me. But the time when you keep scrolling the feed and after a couple of hours you find yourself reading articles which you would never suspect could catch your attention.
And the worst was the feeling that I exercised my my index finger very well in scrolling but there was no progress on the amazing projects.
One evening, after another day of scrolling, I tried looking for tools in order to limit my scrolling. I went through a lot of different tools, some of them having hilarious names (Facebook Nanny), but in the end I found the one, thanks to which I do not exercise my index finger anymore.
News Feed Eradicator for Facebook is a Chrome extension which simply removes your Facebook feed and replaces it with a quote. You can still chat with your friends and look at pages or your friends profiles. But the nicest thing about it is that you consciously choose which profiles you want to look at instead of allowing a Facebook algorithm to choose them for you.
Of course it takes some time to get used to the new look of the page but sticking to it for couple of days changed completely the way I use Facebook.
It is hard to disagree that in the end of the day we all could use a bit more time. And no matter if you feel like you have an addiction to Facebook, find yourself refreshing the page too many times a day or after spending some time on the page you feel like you have not read anything worth your time, just give the extension a try. If you do not like it, just uninstall it.
Let me know if you have any methods of how to limit social media pages. To be honest I could use a tool to limit my YouTube visits. So if you know anything that can help, please let me know in the comments below.
